SEO and How Quality Content Will Elevate Your Business

SEO has recently been the focal point of marketing everywhere. It’s like a rat race to the top of Google. Statistics show that the first five links on the first page on Google account for 67.6% of all clicks. With that being said, have you ever clicked on a link and it didn’t impress you or it wasn’t what you were looking for? Although SEO is extremely important, it is still not enough without quality content! Imagine Bonnie and Clyde without each other, unimpressive and uninteresting - but the two together is what captivates and excites an audience.

What is SEO and why is it important? This tutorial goes beyond the definition of search engine optimization and digs deep into how search engines like Google...

First, let’s get to know SEO a little better. If you didn’t already google it, SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It’s the practice of increasing traffic to your website through organic (unpaid) search engine results. In order words, it’s Google’s rat race of making it to the top. For the sake of this article, this is the “Bonnie” of the operations - the one that receives the credit for the views and the audience. However, when we dive a bit deeper into SEO you will soon realize there is so much content behind the scenes.

Here’s when we begin to focus on quality content aka  “Clyde”. Many companies are under the impression that it is quantity that matters. They spend so much money, time and effort trying to spit out content full of keywords or trying to reach a minimum word count when in reality it’s not so much the quantity of the content but the quality that makes the difference. In this day in age, people prefer pictures, videos, virtual effects as opposed to an excessive amount of written content. You can even notice this by which social media platforms are trending and most used. Statistics show that Instagram has four times more engagement than Facebook. Why? Because Facebook has become “outdated” and is filled with way too many articles while Instagram is more appealing to the eye. It's just scrolling through endless pictures and videos with minimal words and hashtags. And this is where we see what defines quality content. The concept of Keywords and Hashtags is to allow people to search for what they are looking for more easily but the videos and pictures is what will keep them on your page! According to Tubular Insights, 64% of consumers will buy something after watching branded social videos. And because social videos generate 12 times more shares than written content, Brightcove states that a video will increase organic traffic by 157%!

So while SEO is extremely important in marketing for bringing in traffic, the quality content is required to keep the viewers and turn them into customers. Just like Bonnie & Clyde, It’s the inseparable teamwork that makes the dream work!
